Audain Art Museum Visit
After a recent buying tour, and visit with family, Trev and I decided on a spur of the moment date afternoon which included a visit to the Audain Art Museum, which I can't believe I had yet to experience! With an hour before closing the museum was oddly empty, due to the time of the day, so we enjoyed the exhibit all to ourselves. The building itself is stunning, designed by renowned architect firm Patkau Architects. Visit the Audain Museum website to read John Patkau’s introduction of the architecture as well as all about the vision and this unique museum in Whistler including fantastic photographs. The museum houses the Audain’s (Michael and Yoshiko’s) British Columbia art collection including an exceptional collection of historical Indigenous masks. The gift shop is well curated, featuring a selection of hand-crafted jewelry, ceramics, wood work and homeware by British Columbian artists. Trev took the opportunity to purchase a silver ring by Joe Descoteaux, An Orca, symbolizes long life, strength and bravery- that's my hubby! It was similar to a ring he lost years ago. He surprised me with a three-ring necklace by Mikel Grant as said it reminded him of himself and our 2 sons. Ahhh, right!? I purchased a funky pearl and rubber ring by local artist, Monica Gerwuz, well just because! Thank you for your philanthropic gifts Michael Audain and Yoshiko Karasawa. You can plan your visit by visiting the website and get involved by visiting, donating and volunteering. #artmatters #art #architecture #architects #wood #design #whistler #audainartmuseum #museum #bc #grateful
